SHERIDAN: FIRST ANNUAL JURIED PHOTOGRAPHY SHOW, SAGEBRUSH ART CENTER Sagebrush Art Center is pleased to host its First Annual Juried Photography Show this May. Juried by well-known photographer Adam Jahiel, the exhibition features 38 photos by 30 local and regional photographers, and will run May 4th-May 30th. The reception & awards ceremony takes place May 15th, from 5-7pm. The reception is open to the public; wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served. Free Greater Yellowstone Area Xeriscaping Guide Now Available As another growing season is beginning, the Greater Yellowstone Coordinating Committee encourages people to be mindful and efficient in their water use and to utilize practices that use less water in their residential or business landscaping. The committee’s Sustainable Operations Subcommittee is now offering a free, illustrated, color booklet entitled “Xeriscape Landscaping in the Greater Yellowstone Area” which includes suggestions for water-conserving plants and landscaping techniques. “This year’s lower-than-average snow pack across most of the Greater Yellowstone Area has caused renewed interest in water-wise landscaping,” said the booklet’s co-author and project coordinator, Jane Ruchman, Landscape Architect for the Custer Gallatin National…

Park Ranger Andrew Langford will visit several park areas that provide the best opportunities to locate, identify, and record birds as part of the annual North American bird count and annual IMBD observance. April 20, 2015 Interstate 80 Wreck Near Laramie
From the Wyoming Highway Patrol… For the second time in less than five days, Interstate 80 is closed due to a major vehicle pileup approximately 18 miles west of Laramie at mile post 292. Dense fog and light slush conditions are being cited as contributing factors in this crash. Initial reports are that two commercial vehicles crashed with each other at approximately 8:00 a.m. today causing one of the trucks to jackknife in both lanes of I 80 westbound. After the jackknife, the chain reaction of crashes began as multiple westbound vehicles crashed into the jackknifed truck and each other. Very preliminary information has approximately 21 – 40 vehicles involved.…

New WHP Troopers
Four new Wyoming State Troopers were sworn in by Chief Justice E. James Burke and commissioned on March 19th at the Wyoming Supreme Court in Cheyenne. These troopers have successfully completed up to 28 weeks of academy training including areas of instruction in traffic law, firearms, impaired driving, crash investigation, custody and control, commercial carrier, child passenger safety, radar/LIDAR use, emergency vehicle operation, active shooter and many others. Albany County Historical Society Hosts Annual Banquet & Presentation on the Virginia Dale State Station The Albany County Historical Society invites the public to its annual banquet on Tuesday, March 10 at 6 p.m. at the Laramie Country Club with guest speaker William Loyer. Built in 1862, the Virginia Dale Stage Station on the Overland Trail predates the Union Pacific Railroad and is one of the oldest buildings in the area. – U.S. Senator Mike Enzi, R-Wyo, is encouraging Wyoming high school students to apply to be a Senate page for one of the summer sessions in Washington, DC.
