    /

John Colter Day to Tell Story of Mountain Man History in Jackson Hole MOOSE, WY —The annual John Colter Day will be held Monday, June 27, at Colter Bay Visitor Center in Grand Teton National Park. Colter explored the vast Yellowstone country during the winter of 1807-1808, and was likely the first European to ever travel the region. This marks the ninth year that Grand Teton has offered special presentations to highlight the life of John Colter and the mountain men of the 1800s. John Colter Day highlights include: Colter Stone Display — June 24-July 5, 2016 This stone—on loan from the Teton Valley Historical Museum in Driggs, Idaho— is…

EXPLORE WYOMING: Mountain View Hotel, Centennial

    /

THE MOUNTAIN VIEW HOTEL CENTENNIAL, WYOMING 307.742.3588  www.themountainviewhotel.com   On April 1, Levi & I were treated to a night at the Mountain View Hotel, a historic establishment in Centennial, just about 30 miles west of Laramie on US Highway 130. Due to our crazy lifestyle with our businesses, we weren’t able to make it until later that Friday evening. However, the owners, Kat & Mike, were kind to us and showed us around, regardless of the hour – part of that Wyoming hospitality that they literally offer around the clock. Fine hospitality at the Mountain View Hotel isn’t a new phenomenon, but it is something Kat & Mike…

    Motorists Stranded Due to Accidents

    /

From WYDOT & the Wyoming Highway Patrol ... Severe winter weather and multiple crashes resulted in a road closure in both directions on Interstate 80 between Cheyenne and Laramie on Saturday (Feb. 6th) resulting in motorists becoming stranded behind the crashes. The first crash occurred around 2:20 p.m. near mile post 340 eastbound, approximately 20 miles west of Cheyenne, when a commercial truck crashed into a WYDOT snowplow blocking all lanes. Shortly after that crash, all westbound lanes became blocked due to multiple crashes in the same vicinity (mile post 340). As law enforcement, first responders, WYDOT and tow companies attempted to sort through and clean up the crashes,…

When viewing road conditions, a color-coded system shows pavement conditions and traffic hazards. The highway cameras view provides images from WYDOT’s statewide network of Web cameras. Be Careful on Those Highways!

    /

While these two stories happened several days/weeks ago, the new snow and treacherous highway conditions Wyoming is seeing right now are a good reason to bring it out today – please be careful for yourself, and for others out there! On Christmas Day, 2015 … A Wyoming State Trooper sustained minor injury after his patrol car was struck on Interstate 80 on Christmas Day. The patrol car was struck around 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 25th approximately 31 miles east of Evanston, Wyoming in snow and ice covered road conditions. Evanston area Trooper Matt Arnell, a 15 year WHP veteran, was assisting a motorist who had slid off into the median…
