{"id":709,"date":"2012-03-02T21:02:51","date_gmt":"2012-03-02T21:02:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wyolifestyle.com\/?p=709"},"modified":"2012-03-20T18:39:19","modified_gmt":"2012-03-20T18:39:19","slug":"in-honor-of-dr-seuss-my-ode-to-wyoming-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.wyolifestyle.com\/?p=709","title":{"rendered":"In honor of Dr. Seuss: My Ode to Wyoming Life"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LINK TO OUR WEBSITE: www.wyolifestyle.com<\/p>\n<p>In honor of the amazing Dr. Seuss&#8217; birthday today, I felt a little inspired to write a little poem about Wyoming. \u00a0Now, I&#8217;m not a poet, and believe me, I know it&#8230; But I digress and will give my rhyming a rest. \u00a0So if you don&#8217;t mind taking a moment or three, and reading my poem &#8212; this is Wyoming to me&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><em>My Ode to Wyoming Life &#8212;<\/em> <em>A Seuss-istic poem by Kati Hime<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Tell someone Wyoming is where you live<\/p>\n<p>And a wide-eyed stare back to you they will give<\/p>\n<p>Says the city-slicker back from the far coast<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSay, isn\u2019t a horse what you ride the most?<\/p>\n<p>And cars aren\u2019t really welcome there, I hear\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Why, didn\u2019t you just get electricity last year?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yes, we\u2019re small, and our state is big,<\/p>\n<p>To get from town to town takes more than a jig.<\/p>\n<p>And it may seem like we\u2019re backwards at best,<\/p>\n<p>But really, we give our boasting a rest<\/p>\n<p>Although if I could go on, I would be happy to<\/p>\n<p>And here\u2019s what I\u2019d say to you\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Get in your car and drive end to end<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Cross prairies and lakes and mountains and then<\/p>\n<p>Dip your feet in a river, or smell the fresh air<\/p>\n<p>Ride a horse, or a bike, take a tram through the air,<\/p>\n<p>And feast on our grub until your belly is full,<\/p>\n<p>And experience our history \u2013 it\u2019s far from dull.<\/p>\n<p>Then walk around a town \u2013 big or small,<\/p>\n<p>You have to stop everywhere to see it all.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll see ranchers and farmers, cowboys and cowgirls,<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll see climbers standing on top of the world<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll see high western fashion to well-worn jeans<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll see parkas and sandals because we\u2019re more than it seems<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re a little bit of everything, believe it or not<\/p>\n<p>In Wyoming, a tough spirit is what we\u2019ve got.<\/p>\n<p>You have to be tough to live in the wind<\/p>\n<p>And every summer, know that winter will happen again<\/p>\n<p>But that\u2019s what we do \u2013 because we love our home state<\/p>\n<p>And once you visit, you\u2019ll agree \u2013 it is great<\/p>\n<p>This is what makes Wyoming beautiful to me<\/p>\n<p>And if you don\u2019t like it, you can disagree<\/p>\n<p>But we\u2019re a little bit of everything \u2013 every one too,<\/p>\n<p>But no one does it quite like we do<\/p>\n<p>And that makes us unique &#8212; even a little sweet<\/p>\n<p>Which makes talking to city-slickers a real treat<\/p>\n<p>When they ask \u201cIs electricity all that you thought it would be?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I simply smile and say \u201cWell\u2026we\u2019ll see.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LINK TO OUR WEBSITE: www.wyolifestyle.com In honor of the amazing Dr. Seuss&#8217; birthday today, I felt a little inspired to write a little poem about Wyoming. \u00a0Now, I&#8217;m not a poet, and believe me, I know it&#8230; But I digress and will give my rhyming a rest. \u00a0So if you don&#8217;t mind taking a moment or three, and reading my poem &#8212; this is Wyoming to me&#8230; My Ode to Wyoming Life &#8212; A Seuss-istic poem by Kati Hime Tell someone Wyoming is where you live And a wide-eyed stare back to you they will give Says the city-slicker back from the far coast \u201cSay, isn\u2019t a horse what you ride the most?
